Ward Eugene Hottinger, 88, passed away Feb. 7, 2017 with his daughter Kathy and granddaughter Gina at his side.

He was born on June 6, 1928 to the late Paul D. Hottinger and Ruth Emma (VanCleave) Cast in Hamilton County, Indiana.

He loved working on cars he would fix the cars he could and then sell them. The cars he could not fix he would scrap. His love of working on cars led him to a 30-year career working for Chrysler in Indianapolis. Mr. Hottinger also enjoyed repairing and selling bicycles. He had a sense of pride seeing people drive the cars and trucks he had fixed. He also really enjoyed watching the kids ride the bicycles in town that he had repaired.

Mr. Hottinger was a proud member of the Son of the Legion at Elliot Kay V American Legion Post 67 in Sheridan. He was also a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Noblesville Lodge 540.

Survivors include his five loving children Connie (Ty) Wilson of Sheridan, Kathy (Jeff) Pitts of Sheridan, Sharlotte (Tim) Unroe of McCordsville, Ted Hottinger of Sheridan and Andy (Teresa) Hottinger of Sheridan; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Helen Louise (Barrick) on April 16, 2016; his granddaughter Angie Gang; and his sister Dorothy.

Private family funeral services were held Wednesday Feb. 15, 2017 at Fisher Family Funeral Services in Sheridan. The Rev. Brook Barrick officiated. Burial followed at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.
