V. Irene Byers, 88 of Michigan and formerly of Kirklin, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at Tinder Care in Alpena, Mich.
She was born Oct. 16, 1928 in Hillsburg, to Zoal and Mary (Crumet) Cox.
She attended school in Sheridan and graduated in 1946 at Goodman High School in Goodman, Wisc. She worked at the Dry Cleaners and Hansen Grocery Store in Kirklin. On Sept. 13, 1946, she married Donald Byers in Sagola, Mich. Mr. Byers passed away Oct. 1, 1980.
Survivors include her son John (Melanie) Byers of Frankfort; a sister, Lois Rosek of Ossineke, Mich.; two brothers, Arlie (Freida) Cox of Sheridan and Gerald (Marie) Cox of Hammond; four grandchildren, Mike (Ann Marie) Byers of Broomfield, Colo., Brian (Jackie) Byers of Quinisec, Mich., Jason (Michelle) Byers of Sheridan and Kerri (Kevin) Caldwell of Tavares, Fla.; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James Byers, sister Eleanor Snell and brother Edward Cox.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Steve Cole officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
