Loren Dale Musgrove, 77, Muncie, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6,2018 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Nov. 5, 1940 in Newton, Ill., he was the son of the late Virgil and Ruby (Jones) Musgrove.

After attending Newton High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Airborne Division.

He worked for Carrier Building Services for 30 years, retiring in 2004.

He married the former Margaret Stewart on Aug. 31, 2004. She survives.

Mr. Musgrove was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 440 from 1969 to 2018, and a lifetime member of the NRA. In addition to his work with Carrier, he also raised Belgian draft horses. Between work and his horses he had little free time, but when he could find the time he enjoyed going camping and trying to get in some hunting and fishing. He also had a true passion for shooting sports. He was a superior marksman in both his military career and in civilian life, winning the 1999 State Championship for shooting skeet.  It was more than a hobby, it was also a chance for him to have special connection with his grandchildren. He loved talking about guns and shooting with them. His grandchildren were his life. If there was something going on in their lives, you better believe that Grandpa was going to be a part of it.

Survivors other than his loving wife include his son, Dale E. (Karen K.) Musgrove of Sheridan; his daughter, Jamie Sue Hottinger of Indianapolis; two step-sons, Keith (Robin) Stewart of Williamston, Mich. and Mark (Lisa) Stewart of Bargersville, Ind.; a step-daughter, Carol (Kent) Longenecker of Sheridan; 11 grandchildren, Meegan (Lloyd) Clifton, Elizabeth (Ryan) Lehman, Emily Musgrove, Dale Musgrove, Steven (Stacee) Longenecker, Kathie (Julian) Ravenscroft, Ruth (Joel) Cooper, Tom Stewart, Bethany (David) Pendell, Emily Stewart and Nathan Stewart; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Beulah Shadle of Effingham, Ill. and Doreen (David) Clow of Washington Court House, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon Musgrove; and a sister, Louise Powers.

Services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St. in Sheridan. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018 at Mound Cemetery in Willow Hill, Ill.
