Most of the reunions that are held at the Sheridan Public Library in the Community Room are family or class related. But once in a while we encounter something unusual.

Last week was special because several of the Larry Hobbs' basketball era (1948 to 1962) players gathered and celebrated another year of remembering their old coach and their (his) winning ways by having lunch and conversation at the library. A new twist this year was the addition of several of the cheerleaders from that era.

As can be seen from the pictures there are a lot of familiar names and faces of men and women who still reside in our community. There are also a few names long forgotten who have moved away but decided to come back for the get-together.

The guys have been getting together for a few years now, but this was the first year the cheerleaders were invited to join in the group. A grand time was had by all and old acquaintances were renewed.

One cannot help but wish Coach Hobbs were still here but we are sure that looking down from basketball heaven he must be smiling at his “boys” and their fine accomplishments in life. And the girls, too. Many of them spoke well of Coach Hobbs and how well he treated them as they worked hard to cheer on the many winning teams Coach Hobbs had during his tenure at Sheridan.
